Having to deal with heavy snowfalls, slippery roads, and icy patches makes winter driving dreadful. But that’s not all you should worry about in winter conditions. Many people don’t know how to properly share the road with snow plows.
Several drivers are killed each year trying to pass snow plows. The first thing you should know is never pass a snow on the right side. The blade of the plows wider than the plow itself and the driver can’t see you so this is extremely dangerous.
If you must pass, make sure you have a clear view and sufficient space to pass. You’ll need more room than for a regular car.
But remember, the snow is only cleared behind the snow plow! After passing you will be driving on un-cleared road which is slippery and dangerous. So, only pass a snow plow if you absolutely need to. Stay behind it if you can, or take an alternate route!
